Nourish: Manuka Honey

I’m sure you’ve heard of it already--whether from a Google search, a BuzzFeed article, or a Kardashian, Manuka honey has been at the forefront of skincare and general gut health for a quite a while now.

And you know what? People may be on to something.

Manuka honey is loaded with properties that aid with anti-aging, even skin, gastritis, general digestion, tooth decay, sleep--it’s basically the new miracle food. And, it’s way more concentrated than regular honey you get in the supermarket, which means it tastes amazing.

You’re probably thinking, “but how on earth should I use it!?”

Literally, any way you want to.

You can put it in your hair, on your face, in your recipes--but my favorite two things to do with honey are bake cakes and make smoothies. I add it to my cake for a more dense, rich texture and a deeper flavor. I add it to my smoothies for a touch of sweetness I can feel good about.

My absolute favorite smoothie a kale-mango creation I made one day (after realizing I spent WAY too much on Juice Generation). I take a handful of kale, one mango, some frozen raspberries and strawberries, and some spinach and toss them into a blender with just about a teaspoon of honey. It’s honestly one of my favorite things to make when I’m on the go, and I need a filling treat in the morning.

Give Manuka honey a try in your next smoothie, mask, or any other recipe: I promise you’ll thank us later.
