Nourish: My Favorite Pre- and Post-Class Meals

Real talk: I love to cook, but I hate how much energy it takes, especially during the week! I have WAY too much going on to even consider going all out with a fancy meal, in the morning OR at night. I wake up too early, and I go to bed too late.

But, I’ve found some go-to meals that fit my busy lifestyle, according to whatever my needs are.

In the morning, I tend to need energy; I don’t drink coffee, so I rely on specific carbs and proteins to get me through. Often, I’ll eat whole-grain toast with peanut or almond butter, or I’ll quickly opt for some organic guac or avocado slices on my toast. If I have a little more time, I’ll top my avocado toast with a sunny-side up egg.

The toast offers me the perfect amount of carbs to get me through the day, and the protein from the nut butters and eggs help keep me full and focused. Paired with orange juice and a tall glass of water, I’ve got the perfect meal.

Post-class, depending on what I have going on for the rest of the day, I know that I’ll need to replenish some of the electrolytes and energy that I’ve lost. One of the quickest things for me to make is a grilled chicken breast or a sautéed piece of fish. I pair it with some roasted veggies, brown rice, or a potato, and I’ve got a wholesome meal that makes me feel brand new.

The best part? I can make these meals in under 20 minutes each. Perfect for my busy life.
